MECP Hits the Road
By Todd Ramsey
MECP Technical Consultant

Occasionally MECP gets out there and goes to see retail shops and supporting manufacturers to see firsthand just how they are leveraging the MECP program and living the same professionalism that is part of being MECP Certified. This past Spring was one such occasion.

Todd Ramsey, MECP Technical Consultant, visited Directed Electronics in Vista, CA where he spent two days with Directed’s US Technical Support team, four of whom are MECP Masters along with others who are MECP certified or pursuing certification. Directed Canada also has an additional group supporting Canadian retailers and many of the databus and transponder bypass devices Directed produces.

While at Directed, Todd and David Parhat, Technical Support Lead and Training Coordinator, worked together to understand many of the ways Directed is already using MECP in-house and in their training materials for dealers including some hands-on, in-car time with their products. In addition, Todd, David, and the rest of the Technical Support team reviewed opportunities to continue using industry expertise at companies like theirs, along with many of the talented and experienced MECP technicians in the field today so that the content for MECP certification exams as well as the technical accuracy remains relevant in all levels.

Directed’s Technical Support team was instrumental in helping with the latest revision to the MECP Basic Installation Technician study guide and will continue to lend their valued support in future revisions to other MECP study guides and exams. Directed’s Jeff Burt, Director of Technical Support commented, “We believe in the importance of MECP certification for today’s technicians and are excited about continuing to spread the word to our retailers through training and our other support programs.”

Directed’s US Technical Support Team members:
