CEA-2031 Loudspeaker Standard As a mobile electronics installer, you are often the main point of contact for the customer. You need to know all of the latest and greatest news about the industry so that you can answer customers’ questions about the products that you are installing in their vehicles.CEA recently announced a new mobile loudspeaker rating and logo program that you can use to help customers select mobile electronics equipment compatible to their needs. 
When you see the mobile amplifier logo on a product it means that the product has been tested, and the results have been reported, in accordance with CEA-2031, Testing and Measurement Methods for Mobile Loudspeaker Systems. The standard defines test procedures for rating the performance and physical size of mobile loudspeakers, as well as requirements for reporting these characteristics. The CEA-2031 standard is the second in a series of standards meant to make choosing mobile electronics equipment easier for consumers. The first standard in the series is CEA-2006-A, which defines measurement and reporting requirements for mobile amplifiers. The third, CEA-2015, is still in development, and will define requirements for power and speaker cables used in mobile electronics equipment. When used together these CEA ratings help consumers choose mobile amplifiers that will work with their loudspeakers. Once completed, the CEA 2015 standard will also help them choose cables that optimize the performance of their amplifiers and speakers. What does this mean for you? Installers – Finally, when you are doing system design strategies for small or large systems, you have a basis on which to match the power output of an amplifier to the speakers that will be connected. This aspect really takes some of the guess work out, to the point that your colleagues in the sales department will have more success when they are selecting equipment for the customer and do not have time to consult you in the process. Retailers – Encourage your suppliers to adopt the mobile loudspeaker logo, and educate your sales team on how to use the logo as a sales tool.
