What's new in 2007 at MECP?
MECP has made many improvements over the past 12 months, one of which is the creation of e-newsletters like this. There are more improvements everyday at MECP, both those that you see and many that you may not see, but are still taking place.

MECP Exam Pricing
One change that all current and future MECP certification participants should know about is the change in MECP exam pricing. MECP now has two price tiers that reflect the amount of effort required to locate and schedule a test in a qualified location.

The easiest way to schedule MECP exams is through a Thomson-Prometric center. You can locate a test center through the link at the MECP website where you'll sign-up to take the exam and pay for it in as little as 10 minutes. Then you show up at the test site at the confirmed appointment time with two forms of valid ID and take the test. With this option, you locate the center and scheduling the exam on YOUR time. You are not held to a school or proctor's schedule and you choose a location that's convenient for you.

Here are the costs for testing at Thomson-Prometric centers:

• Basic Installation Technician Exam (English or Spanish) - $85
• Advanced Installation Technician Exam - $105
• Master Installation Technician Exam - $125
• Mobile Product Specialist Exam - $85

Alternative delivery methods for MECP exams are intended for the few exceptions where it is simply not possible to get to a Thomson-Prometric center or you have pre-arranged with a proctor (such as at an MECP authorized school or with a proctor who may be able to visit your shop). Since this alternative requires more effort for participants, there is a $25 discount on each exam. A full listing of available proctors and proctored test sites is available at the MECP website. Duplicate Certificates
If you are already MECP certified and have lost or damaged your certificate, you can now order a duplicate by calling MECP’s customer service team at (866) 858-1555 or by e-mailing the request to customerservice@CE.org. There is a $5 service charge for each certificate and they usually arrive within two weeks.

New and Revised Study Guide Names
You will begin to see the study guides for installers reflect the newest MECP terminology of installation technician. As these guides are reprinted, they are updated to reflect this new terminology which distinguishes career minded individuals who pursue certification versus those who are just out there “installing stuff.”

Master Installation Technician Study Guide
The new Master Installation Technician study guide will be available in mid-February for $70. While we know you have been patiently waiting for this guide, we can tell you that it's worth the wait. Check the MECP website for the details or contact MECP@MECP.com for more information.
