How long have you been in the industry?
Almost 5 years now. I first took interest in the industry in high school and did my first system as a senior project. So if you include that, almost 10 years.
How many years have you been MECP certified? How long have you been Master certified?
I have been MECP certified for 2.5 years and Master certified for only about 8 months.
What is the year, make and model of the most difficult car you've ever worked on?
I can remember having to bypass an amp on a mid 90's 7 Series BMW with no tech info and becoming very frustrated because of my lack of technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills at the time.
Give us a rundown of the system installed in your vehicle right now.
I have an 04' Lexus IS300. I wanted to keep the factory deck for anti-theft reasons, so I added a JL Audio Clean sweep with summing interface, Boston 2 channel and 4 channel amps, Boston rear 6x9's, Genesis 6.5" components in the front, a 10" JL free air sub on the rear shelf, and a ton of sound deadening.
Name the top five artists in your MP3 player at the moment.
I have quite a variety of music on my iPod for customer demo purposes, but I would have to say Notorious BIG, Metallica, Phil Collins, a bit of country, and a lot of 80's.
What is your favorite tool to use in the installation bay and why?
Definitely my Fluke multimeter. The Multimeter gives you so much information when you know how to use it.
What's the best advice you have ever gotten in your installation career?
I would have to say "Underpromise, overdeliver!"
Who inspires you to further your skills and your career in mobile electronics installation? My friends, because I am their mobile electronics go-to guy!
